This is Gypsy! Her name should explain everything since she was found running around in a remote area looking lost and afraid. Rescuing her was not an easy task, since she wanted to trust, but was unsure of whether or not she could feel that way toward anyone. I was determined to take her away from such a terrifying life of being alone and unwanted. Trying everything I could think of, it still took what seemed like forever to convince her that it was okay and that she would be safe.
Finally, after an hour or so of pure determination and help from some very kind people who happened to be passing by, she gave up and just laid there to be picked up and taken to her new home.
She came home to lots of new friends…me, two dogs, and a cat, who all welcomed her as part of the family.
Gypsy is still afraid of strangers and bad weather, but with lots of love and affection, she is finally becoming a happy and much more secure dog.
You will, from time to time, hear more about Gypsy and her brothers and sisters, since they have all made life very interesting and even challenging for me, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. That’s what patience and unconditional love is all about.
When you help someone else, no matter who it is, it helps you feel good about your own life. You realize that you are definitely here for a reason and that you are needed and appreciated more than you will ever know.
I’d love to hear your stories about pets and how they have made a difference in your life.
Peace and love to all,
Cindy
